Half-Time Adjustments

Can you believe it’s already half way through the year?

How are your fitness resolutions going? Are you on track? Or did you think you’d be further along?


Whatever your status, know it’s okay where you are. After all, it’s only half time.

Take a moment to relax and reground yourself on your goals. Refresh your plan by refocusing your energy. What have you learned from the first half of the year? What are your weaknesses and what strengths have you discovered about yourself? It’s important to acknowledge that you’ve gone off course, but don’t beat yourself up over it. Reflection and making the proper adjustments to your routine can help guide you to even greater success.

Be sure to prioritize YOU.

Small, consistent daily actions to better your health will go a long way. Move yourself up on your priority list for the remainder of the year. Know that challenges will arise when establishing a new fitness routine, but your body will thank you for it. Stay positive and focus on realistic, fail-proof targets. Instead of saying, “I’ll go to the gym every day for an hour,” say, “I’ll start my days with 20 sit-ups, 10 squats, and 5 lunges.” Then wake up in the morning, do your sit-ups, squats, and lunges, and record your progress. Don’t think about it, just take action. You’ll see that your new morning routine will become habit.

Introduce changes every two to three weeks for continuous growth. Do this by changing your intensity level, add a partner to the mix, or take a different class. The key is to never allow your body to adapt to a routine.
